The Swachhata Pakhwada activities at the Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL), which commenced with Mass Swachhata Shapath (pledge) administered to all employees on December 2, concluded on December 13 (Friday).
Emphasis was given to cleaning the unattended sites, building rooftops with a focus on making the campus free of single-use plastic and prevention of water stagnation.
During this campaign, a Voluntary Cleanliness Campaign (Shramdaan) was organised in the nearby locality of the NSTL. A cleaning drive was held at a nearby junction, the Butchirajupalem Urban PHC and anganwadi. A Swachhata awareness rally in NSTL residential complex, a drive for cleaning and repair of public toilets, a plantation drive were also organised, said an official statement issued on Friday.
A Special Swachhata Selfie Booth was set up in front of the NSTL technical area where a large number of employees took pictures. Prizes were distributed to the winners of painting competition held on the theme Swachha Bharat. The Swachhata Pakhwada concluded with the distribution of cotton bags to the employees.
NSTL Director Abraham Varughese said Swachhata was an essential component of life. Scientists, officers, NSTL Civil Employees Union president A. Sunil, joint secretary Ankit Sharma, Works Committee members Alok Chand and Balram Kumar and staff participated.
Cleaning of the office premises and surrounding areas was done by scientists, officers, staff and contract employees was done at the Office of the Director General (Naval Systems and Materials) as part of the Swacchhta Pakhwada, here, on Friday.
Director General (NSM) RV Hara Prasad said it was the responsibility of all staff to keep their surroundings clean.
