Swarna Andhra @ 2047: Collector details plans for Nellore’s development


As the State government prepares the ‘Swarna Andhra @ 2047’ vision document, SPSR Nellore District Collector O. Anand on Saturday released a detailed plan for the overall development of various sectors in the district.

Speaking about the industrial growth, Mr. Anand said: “The number of mega industries and MSME projects will be increased from 11,992 to 24,004 in the next five years. A land bank is being developed for port-based industries and industrial clusters dedicated to wooden cutlery and garments manufacturing.”

Krishnapatnam Port in the district had started commercial operations in July 2008 as the first green field port in the country with 12 berths, he said, adding that the construction of Ramayapatnam Port as a four-berth deep-sea port are currently underway with an estimated budget of ₹3,700 crore. He also informed that Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour aims to employ over 25,000 people.

In terms of agriculture, the district has set a target to bring 73,116 hectares of land under cultivation and increase the area under pulses crop from 12,740 hectares to 22,499 hectares in the next five years, Mr. Anand stated.

The authorities aim to provide the best healthcare services, reduce infant mortality as well as malnutrition in the district by 2047. All tourist places are likely to be developed as digital repository, and water sports activities will be started at Sarvepalli Tank and Mypadu Beach. They have also set a target to achieve 100% literacy and train more than 1.5 lakh people in a year, the Collector added.
