Body of eight-year-old boy found in Hussainsagar

The body of an eight-year-old boy who fell into an open drain near Fateh Nagar on Friday evening was recovered from Hussainsagar on Saturday, police confirmed.

The victim, Syed Muzammil, a Class I student, was playing near a nala in Sanath Nagar’s Fateh Nagar area with his brother, Imran, around 5 p.m. when he accidentally slipped into the drain. Despite immediate efforts to locate him, the high-pressure water flow in the open nala carried him away, making the search challenging.

Police were alerted, and the Secretariat police in coordination with Begumpet police, launched a search operation. After a prolonged search spanning more than 24 hours, Muzammil’s body was discovered near a sewage treatment plant (STP) at Hussainsagar. The police suspect the body was carried downstream by the high-pressure water flow in the pipeline connected to the Begumpet nala.

Following identification by his family, the body was handed over to them.
