The prevalence of kidney-related diseases in India is rising steadily. Responding to this health crisis, Yashoda Hospital in Hitech City inaugurated a Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) clinic on Sunday (December 15), aimed at providing specialised care for CKD patients.

Chronic kidney disease poses a risk to individuals with conditions such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, kidney stones, long-term medication use (such as painkillers and antibiotics), obesity or a family history of CKD, said Rajasekhara Chakravarthy, senior nephrologist and kidney transplant specialist.

According to Gorukanti Ravinder Rao, chairman of Yashoda Hospital Group, the incidence of CKD is alarmingly high in certain states, with more than 20% of the population affected in regions including Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
