Hyderabad: Terming CM Revanth Reddy‘s visit to a residential school as ‘symbolic’, former minister T Harish Rao said the govt should come up with some actionable solutions to tackle spurt in food-poisoning cases in gurukul and residential schools across the state.
These include providing basic necessities like hot water and winter clothing for students and ensuring the timely disbursement of funds to pay hostel staff and address infrastructure issues. He questioned why hostel funds were not released for six months despite the claim of a “green channel” for fund allocation.
Harish Rao along with former assembly speaker S Madhusudhana Chary, ex-ministers P Sabitha Indra Reddy and Sunitha Laxma Reddy and former MLA Methuku Anand visited NIMS to console Leelavati, a gurukul student, currently undergoing treatment following food-poisoning.
He said 15 students from the tribal welfare school in Tandur, Vikarabad district, fell ill on Dec 10 after consuming khichdi.
