Hyderabad: Telangana high court cleared the way for conducting elections to the Primary Fishermen Cooperative Societies Limited, District Fishermen Cooperative Societies Limited and Telangana State Fishermen Cooperative Societies Limited, which have been pending for a long time.
Justice NV Shravan Kumar issued directions to the state election authority and Registrar of Cooperative Societies to take a decision on the representation given by Fishermen Cooperative Societies Limited of various districts in the state.
There are 33 district fishermen cooperative societies, out of which 12 districts completed elections for five-year terms. The remaining 21 districts have chief promoters, and the elections were delayed due to the model code of conduct.
The members made representations, but there was no response from the authorities. Consequently, they filed a writ petition before the high court.
