Thoothukudi and several Delta districts in Tamil Nadu are reeling under the impact of continuous heavy rainfall over the past three days, leaving several areas waterlogged and daily life disrupted.
In Thoothukudi, urban pockets like Postal Telegram Colony, Rajiv Nagar, Rajagopal Nagar, Bharati Nagar, Amuda Nagar, KVK Nagar, and Asoke Nagar are inundated. Rural areas have also been severely affected, with heavy waterlogging leaving villages marooned and paddy fields submerged.
The monsoon rains have caused extensive damage in Thanjavur district, one of the hardest-hit regions. Farmers in these areas report significant losses, with approximately 30,000 acres of paddy crops and 10,000 acres of horticulture crops under water. The unrelenting downpour has thrown life into chaos, and residents are urging authorities to expedite relief and rehabilitation efforts.
