Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was on fire against Australia on Sunday (December 15) during the second day’s play of the ongoing third Test between the two teams at The Gabba in Brisbane. The 31-year-old fast bowler has picked up five wickets so far for 72 runs in 25 overs. By taking his 12th five-wicket haul in Test cricket, Bumrah went past Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma’s tally, who have 11 fifers each to their name in the five-day format of the game for India.
Bumrah opened his wicket account on Sunday by getting Usman Khawaja (21) caught behind by Rishabh Pant in the morning session of Day 2’s play. In his next over he then got rid of Nathan McSweeney, who scored nine runs. For his third wicket, Bumrah dismissed Steve Smith (101) and then accounted for the dismissals of Mitchell Marsh (5) and Travis Head (152) in one over itself.
Bumrah has 12 fifers to his name in Tests. Among Indian pacers, only Kapil Dev (23) has picked up more five-wicket hauls than the right-arm fast bowler from Ahmedabad in the five-day format of the game.
