At the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show, Hyundai Motor India will showcase its two upcoming electric SUVs – the Creta EV and Ioniq 9. The prices of the Hyundai Creta EV will also be announced at the event. It will directly rival the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the soon-to-be-launched Maruti e-Vitara. The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is the brand’s new flagship SUV based on the E-GMP modular born-electric architecture. This EV will first be launched in its home markets – South Korea and North America – in the first half of 2025. As of now, there is no official word on its arrival in India.
Here’s a brief overview of both the upcoming Hyundai electric SUVs:
Hyundai Creta EV
Powertrain details of the Hyundai Creta EV are yet to be revealed. However, this electric SUV is reported to be offered with a 45kWh battery and a single motor setup, delivering a maximum power of 138bhp and 255Nm of torque. As far as range is concerned, it’s expected to offer over 350km on a single charge. When compared to its arch-rival – the Tata Curvv EV – the Crete EV will be less powerful and have a shorter range. Spy images reveal that the new Hyundai electric SUV will feature a closed-off front grille, revised front and rear bumpers, and newly designed alloy wheels. A few EV-specific elements will also be seen inside the cabin. The Hyundai Creta EV will have a new circular 3-spoke steering wheel and seat upholstery with ‘CRETA’ embossing on it.
Hyundai Ioniq 9
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 comes with a 110.3kWh lithium-ion battery pack and two drivetrain setups – RWD and AWD. There are two variants – Long Range and Performance. The Long Range version with RWD delivers a maximum power of 218PS and 350Nm of torque, and promises a WLTP-claimed range of 620km. The same variant with the AWD system offers 95PS (front axle)/218PS (rear axle) and 255Nm (front axle)/350Nm (rear axle). The Performance AWD variant is good enough for 218PS (front/rear axle) and 350Nm.
This Hyundai electric SUV has 400V and 800V charging capabilities and also supports the V2L (vehicle-to-load) function. The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is being offered with two seating layouts – 6 and 7 seats. Some of its key features include a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, roof-mounted AC vents, 10 airbags, ADAS with multiple cameras and sensors, and more.
