NEW DELHI: Newly-crowned World Chess Champion D Gukesh celebrated his remarkable achievement in a thrilling and unconventional style by going bungee jumping.
The 18-year-old prodigy, who recently clinched the World Championship title, swapped the chessboard for an adrenaline-pumping adventure, proving he’s fearless both on and off the board.
The daredevil celebration reflects his adventurous spirit and determination, qualities that have propelled him to the pinnacle of global chess.
Gukesh shared the video of his daredevil celebration on social media platform X, captioning it: “I did it!”
Gukesh has experienced an outstanding year, establishing himself as a leading competitor in international chess. His remarkable achievements include securing victory at the esteemed Tata Steel Masterssubsequently guiding India to a gold medal at the Chess Olympiad.
Gukesh’s success continued as he excelled in the Candidates Tournamentultimately securing the coveted World Championship title in Singapore.
Gukesh became the youngest World champion after beating China’s Ding Liren in the final. Gukesh won the championship in the final Game, beating Liren 7.5 – 6.5 on points.
Gukesh became only the second player from India to secure the world championship, following in the footsteps of the iconic Viswanathan Anand. Anand, who clinched the prestigious title five times during his career, had achieved his final world championship victory in way back in 2013.
