Liquor smuggling network busted in Hyderabad, 154 bottles of NDPL seized

The State Task Force (STF) team nabbed a six-member gang involved in the smuggling and distribution of Non-Duty Paid Liquor (NDPL) from Madhya Pradesh.

Acting on a tip-off, officers conducted multiple raids in and around Hyderabad, resulting in the seizure of 154 bottles of NDPL, two cars, six mobile phones, and a motorbike. The first raid was conducted at Chengicherla, where a car carrying 40 bottles of NDPL, including premium brands, was intercepted. Three suspects, identified as Tarun Varma, Ravinder Gowd, and Vinay, were arrested. Investigations revealed that Tarun Varma frequently traveled to Pandhurna in Madhya Pradesh, smuggling cartons of liquor in his vehicle for sale in Hyderabad.

Following this, raids were conducted at various locations. At the residence of K. Surender Reddy, also known as Suri, in Upparpally, Rajendranagar, officers seized 70 bottles of NDPL. A car used for smuggling was also recovered. At the house of Kranthi in Shaikpet, Golconda, 28 bottles of NDPL, including defence liquor sourced from unauthorised channels, were found along with a motorbike used for transportation. Another raid at Nagaraju’s residence in S.R. Nagar led to the seizure of 16 bottles of NDPL. The liquor was smuggled into Hyderabad without Excise duties and sold for profit. Four cases have been registered and handed over to the Excise stations at Ghatkesar, Shamshabad, Golconda, and Ameerpet for further investigation.
