Cyberabad cops had denied nod for Pushpa 2 pre-release event

Hyderabad: At a time when city cops clarified that they had warned the management of Sandhya theatre not to allow the cast of Pushpa-2 to come for the film’s premiere, sources revealed that in Cyberabad too – fearing crowd management issues — permission for one of the pre-release events had been rejected.
On Dec 4, a stampede at Sandhya Theatre, following the arrival of actor Allu Arjun, led to the death of a woman Revathi, even as her son continues to battle for life.
According to sources, movie organisers initially approached Cyberabad police seeking consent for a pre-release event, where the cast, including Allu Arjun, were going to come.
“After taking feedback from the concerned policemen, we came to know that previously during a film function in Cyberabad, there were issues related to crowd management. Anticipating a similar scene, permission was denied,” a source in Cyberabad told TOI. The same event was held at Yousufguda with prior permission from Hyderabad police.
The request to Cyberabad police was made through the online application system.
Meanwhile, after the stampede at Sandhya theatre, the Chikadpally police has been in the spotlight over crowd management.
However, a few days ago, Chikadpally police clarified that though the request was made by the theatre management to provide security for the Pushpa-2 cast, the letter was submitted ‘inward’, and senior officials were not personally briefed. In fact, the inspector concerned asked the theatre management to inform the cast not to come.
Sources said that in spite of the warning, Allu Arjun arrived amid a huge crowd that was already on scene. Cops did not direct the cast to return nor could they react in time by providing required crowd management bandobust.
