Eastern Naval Command (ENC) observed ‘Vijay Diwas’ on Monday with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony held at the ‘Victory at Sea’ War Memorial in Visakhapatnam, commemorating the sacrifices of the Armed Forces personnel during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.

Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Chief of Staff, ENC, led the ceremony by placing the first wreath. Visakhapatnam District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad and GVMC commissioner P. Sampath Kumar also attended the ceremony.

A 50-men guard was paraded at the venue and two-minute silence was observed to honour the bravery and selflessness of the Indian Armed Forces. The tribute served as a poignant reminder of the courage, valour, and unwavering dedication displayed by the martyrs in securing a historic victory that led to the liberation of Bangladesh.

The ceremony witnessed participation of senior naval officers, veterans, and people of the State.
