HYDERABAD

Working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao has demanded that the government run the present session of the Assembly at least for 15 days and discuss the issues of Lagcherla, suicides of farmers, weavers and auto-drivers, residential schools and later the scams being alleged by the ruling party, including the Formula-E Race.

Speaking at a meeting of party workers from Kodangal constituency here on Tuesday, he said the Cabinet meeting was not discussing arresting an individual for over six hours. Former MLA of Kodangal Patnam Narender Reddy, who is in jail for supporting Lagcherla farmers, is an iron man who will defeat his political opponent and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in the next elections.

Expressing hope that Lagcherla farmers would get bail soon, Mr. Rama Rao said the party would be firmly behind Mr. Narender Reddy and all the farmers who were jailed by the government. Accusing the Chief Minister’s family of trying to snatch farmers’ lands in Kondangal, he said the government had announced cancellation of the pharma village proposal but was talking about the industrial corridor now to snatch away lands.

In case setting up industries and creating employment opportunities was the sole criteria of the government, it could make use of 500 acres of land available at Veldanda in Kalwakurthy constituency instead of snatching lands in Kodangal. He reiterated that BRS would keep raising the Lagcherla issue every day in the Assembly.

Party leader and former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar said the BRS workers coming to the meeting were threatened by the Vikarabad police of facing P.D. Act and several others were arrested on the outskirts of the city. He had spoken to Vikarabad SP and he was misinformed that they were going to stage a protest at the Assembly while they were coming to attend the party meet. He alleged that the bail process of Lagcherla farmers was delayed as the government had not appointed a public prosecutor for the case for 40 days.

Party leaders P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, Goreti Venkanna, Dr. Methuku Anand, Satyavathi Rathod, V. Prashanth Reddy, G. Jagadish Reddy, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Deshapathi Srinivas, Padi Kaushik Reddy, Naveen Kumar Reddy, Balka Suman, Patnam Avinash Reddy and others spoke.
