Govt targets investment of 25k cr in tourism in 5 years

Vijayawada: State govt is aiming to rejuvenate its tourism sector with the newly introduced Andhra Pradesh Tourism Policy 2024, targeting to attract 25,000 crore in the next five years.
During a meeting with investors and stakeholders in Vijayawada on Tuesday, state minister for tourism, culture, and cinematography, Kandula Durgesh, highlighted the sector’s potential to transform AP’s economy and outlined incentives for private investments.
The policy emphasises on upgrading infrastructure to enhance tourist experience, including better amenities near temples and other spots of tourist attractions. Durgesh emphasised govt’s commitment to creating a tourist-friendly state and ensuring long-term growth.
Speaking on the occasion, the state tourism minister said, “The govt introduced the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Policy 2024-2029, targeting an investment of 25,000 crore over the next five years,”
He exhibited the policy during a meeting with investors and stakeholders organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and AP Chambers in Vijayawada. Durgesh emphasised govt’s commitment to fostering a tourism-friendly environment by upgrading infrastructure and providing necessary incentives for private investments. He reassured investors of govt’s full support and encouraged them to submit proposals without any hesitation.
He detailed the immense potential of AP’s tourism sector, which includes a vast coastline, remarkable heritage sites, natural beauty, and thriving rivers. He also explained that the new policy aims to develop the sector comprehensively with a focus on creating a world-class tourism destination within five years.
Highlighting the significance of investments, the minister outlined various incentives and subsidies that would be offered to investors.
He mentioned that state govt envisions the creation of 50,000 hotel rooms and plans to establish public-private partnership (PPP) projects to achieve the investment target.
This apart, the policy also includes creation of tourism circuits such as temple tourism, adventure tourism, eco-tourism, village tourism, wellness tourism, and agri-tourism.
Govt is also planning to establish three eco-tourism circuits, ten temple circuits, two Buddhist circuits, five beach circuits, four river circuits, and two cruise circuits to diversify the tourism offerings in the state.
