Vijayawada: The high court directed the state govt to submit detailed information regarding petitions filed over denial of permission to load para-boiled rice onto Stella ship at Kakinada port.
The single judge bench of Justice Nimmagadda Venkateshwarlu, who heard three separate petitions filed by Chitra Agri Exports MD K V Bhaskar Reddy, Padmasree rice mill MD Pothamsetty Gangireddy, and Surya Sri rice mill MD Pothamshetty Vishwanath Reddy, asked the govt to submit all details, and also mention if the petitioners have valid permits for rice transportation and the legal basis for restricting the loading process.
The petitioners claimed that the Kakinada district collector and the port officer were preventing the loading of rice onto the ship without official written orders.
The petitioners’ counsel, A Munindar Reddy, argued that the disruption was causing each petitioner a financial loss of 4.20 lakh per day and urged the court to order an urgent inquiry into the matter. After additional advocate general Sambasiva Pratap sought additional time to present the relevant details, the court posted the next hearing of the matter to Thursday.
