Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) announced its Vision 3.0 strategy earlier this year, under which the company plans to increase its production capacity and expand its SUV and EV (electric vehicle) portfolio by FY31. As part of this third phase of growth, MSI will introduce ten new models, including the new Swift and Dzire, which have already been launched. The Maruti e-Vitara will be the company’s first electric car, scheduled for launch in 2025. Following the e-Vitara, Maruti will bring in a new three-row SUV that will directly compete with the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus. Here’re all key details of the upcoming new Maruti 7-seater SUV.
Maruti 7-Seater SUV: Design & Interior
The design and styling of the Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater SUV will remain similar to its 5-seater sibling, though it will undoubtedly be longer and more spacious. The SUV could feature newly designed alloy wheels and a few minor cosmetic changes to set it apart. Key design elements such as the chrome-lined hexagonal grille, bumper-mounted headlamp clusters, three-point LED DRLs, massive body cladding, and sculpted side body panels are expected to carry over. At the rear, the 7-seater version will likely feature a full-width LED light bar on the tailgate and taillamps integrated into the rear bumper.

The interior will offer a familiar layout with most features borrowed from the 5-seater Grand Vitara. It is expected to retain the 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a head-up display (HUD), a wireless charger, the Arkamys sound system, ambient door lighting, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, hill descent control, six airbags, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Maruti Suzuki might add more features to make the offering even more premium.
Maruti 7-Seater SUV: Engine Options
Under the hood, the upcoming Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater SUV will share its powertrain options with the 5-seater version. These include the 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid engine producing 103bhp, and the 1.5L, 3-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine paired with an electric motor, which delivers 115bhp. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic for the mild hybrid version, while the strong hybrid setup will come with an e-CVT transmission. An all-wheel-drive (AWD) system will also be on offer. On the Grand Vitara 5-seater, these powertrains deliver fuel efficiencies of 21.11kmpl (MT), 20.58kmpl (AT), 19.38kmpl (MT-AWD), and 27.97kmpl (strong hybrid). However, the 7-seater version’s fuel efficiency figures could see slight changes due to its larger dimensions and increased kerb weight.
Maruti 7-Seater SUV: Expected Prices
The Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater SUV will be the first model produced at Maruti Suzuki’s new Kharkhoda facility. In terms of pricing, the three-row SUV is expected to command a premium of approximately Rs 1.50 lakh to Rs 2 lakh over the 5-seater Grand Vitara, which currently retails between Rs 10.87 lakh and Rs 19.97 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-end trim of the 7-seater SUV is expected to be priced as high as Rs 25 lakh (on-road).
