Satta betting racket busted in Hyderabad; 24 held


Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police busted a satta betting racket and apprehended an organizer and three sub-organizers apart from 20 punters, who are organizing and playing satta betting game illegally and earning easy money.

The accused have been identified as Vishal Singh, 26, a businessman and resident of Zummerath Bazaar, Naresh Kumar Chowhan, 24, a businessman and resident of Tadbun in Bahadurpura, Aniketh Singh, 22, of Dhoolpet and Akshay Singh, 26, a labourer and resident of Upper Dhoolpet.

Task Force Additional Commissioner of Police Ande Srinivasa Rao said Vishal Singh was the main organizer, while the remaining three Naresh, Aniketh and Akshay were sub-organizers. Fifteen mobile phones, Rs.30,760 in cash and lottery chats were seized from the possession of the arrested persons.

Vishal Singh was not only into Ganesh idol making business but also running a paan shop at Zummerath Bazar. As his earnings are not sufficient to lead his family, he hatched a plan to organize satta betting. Accordingly, he started a satta gaming house by taking a room on rent behind his paan shop by engaging three sub-organizers to earn money easily.

Their main target was auto drivers, labourers, hotel workers etc., promising them to earn easy money by playing this game. Believing them, they were addicted to satta by betting their hard earned money. On a tip off, the police raided the premises and arrested them.

The police appealed to the people not to play the banned games such as satta, gambling, cricket betting etc., either online or offline. “If you play such illegal games you can lose your hard earned money and may have to face legal consequences,” the police said.
