Visakhapatnam: A man from Vizag was found dead under suspicious circumstances in his room in Canada. Pilli Phani Kumar (36), a native of Gajuwaka locality in Vizag city, was pursuing a program in supply chain and project management from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, Canada.
Phani Kumar’s father Naga Prasad said he received a phone call on the morning of Dec 14 from his son’s roommate (a truck driver) in Canada, who informed that Phani Kumar died in the room. No other detail regarding his cause of death was provided. Calgary police have seized the belongings (laptop, passport, etc.) of the deceased, but no clear explanation for his death has been provided to the family yet.
Family members of the deceased student have approached state TDP president Palla Srinivasa Rao and sought his assistance to repatriate the mortal remains of Phani Kumar. They also requested the TDP leader’s intervention to clarify the circumstances that led to his death.
