Nizamabad: Congress leaders protested near Dr B.R. Ambedkar Rao’s statue in Phulong Crossroads on Thursday, condemning Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent comments. The demonstrators also performed Palabhisekham, a traditional offering, to the statue. They accused Shah of dishonouring Dr Ambedkar with objectionable remarks, asserting that his comments exposed the true colours of the BJP. Congress leaders demanded Shah’s suspension from the Union Cabinet. Prominent attendees included Nizamabad Urban Development Authority chairman Kesha Venu, former MLC D. Rajeshwer, and senior leader Narala Ratnakar. In Kamareddy, the district Congress committee held similar protest programmes against Amit Shah’s remarks.
