Hyderabad: Justice K Lakshman of the Telangana high court came down heavily on GHMC commissioner K Ilambarithi regarding a case involving an illegal structure in Tolichowki.
Officials attempted to demolish the illegal structure in Tolichowki by making two small holes in the staircase of the building but they later claimed to have sealed the building and left the place.
The owner of the building later broke the seal without any authority and used the building for his textile business.
When the matter was taken to the court, the judge summoned the GHMC commissioner and questioned him about the ineffective functioning of the GHMC.
Meanwhile, GHMC officials claimed that they could not complete the demolition due to an ex-parte injunction from the city civil court. The judge examined the veracity of the officials’.
However, the civil court said that it had to finally pass an ex-parte order because the GHMC had failed to respond to its notices despite several opportunities to do so.
The judge directed the GHMC commissioner to review the status of several similar cases and report to the court by Dec 22.
