Vijayawada: A 25-year-old man was murdered over a financial dispute in Old Guntur. The victim, Chappidi Deepak of Chenchupet in Tenali, was allegedly killed by his friend Gaddala Kiran from SVN Colony in Guntur, along with four others.
According to inspector Y V Somayya, Deepak had borrowed 53,000 from Kiran during a drinking session a few months ago.Months passed but he did not return the amount.
On Monday, Kiran invited Deepak to a party. The group, including Kiran, Sivasankar, Ashok, Gopi, and Akbar, along with Deepak consumed alcohol when an argument erupted over the unpaid amount.
In a drunken rage, Kiran and his friends severely assaulted Deepak, leaving him critically injured. He later succumbed to his injuries.
