Elon Musk has been active and influential in many aspects regarding President-elect Donald Trump’s election campaign to the latest decisions. The Tesla boss is now being trolled as ‘President Musk’ by Democrats for his exercise in the policymaking process of federal funding matters.
Congress planned to pass to keep the government running into 2025 with a spending bill and avoid a year-end shutdown. Without short-term funding, the government will shut down until Jan 20. Elon Musk opposed the bill and the Democrats started condemning it by calling Elon Musk the ‘President’ in a sarcastic way. Musk urged lawmakers to vote down an original bipartisan spending bill and said any lawmakers who supported it should be voted out of office.
Some Democrats have suggested Musk is the actual ‘President’ and that Trump is just following his lead in the negotiations. These sarcastic comments highlighted a growing sense among Democrats that Musk’s influence is undermining the traditional balance of power.
Recently elected Progressive Caucus Chair Greg Casar said, ‘If Elon Musk is kind of cosplaying co-president here, I don’t know why Trump doesn’t just hand him the Oval Office, or Speaker Johnson should maybe just hand Elon Musk the gavel if they just want that billionaire to run the country.”
Rep. Rosa DeLauro repeatedly said ‘President Musl’ while speaking with reporters on Thursday. “Welcome to the Elon Musk presidency,” Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) wrote on X.
Meanwhile, President-elect Donald Trump’s team dismissed criticism regarding the influence of billionaire Elon Musk amid spending bill negotiations.
