mMarco was labeled as the most violent film in Layaal. Unni Mukundan starrer Marco is a film that is 100 percent true to such a label. Produced by Sharif Muhammad under the banner of Cubes Entertainment and written and directed by Hanif Adeni, the film is a new generation of Malayalam action films.
The film starts with a warning of violence. The story begins with a crime syndicate running a gold business. Victor, the younger brother of Atat George, the leader of the gang, is killed. Behind it are some people in Syndicate itself. Knowing this, Marco, the adopted brother of George’s family, arrives on the scene. This changes the story and the scene. Will Marco avenge the family? What follows is the evolution of the fight between the rivals and Marco.
The film follows the usual story style of a mass action film, but as said earlier, the director really gets the ingredient of violence added to it. The extreme action choreography makes a great reflection on the progress of the film. And Hanif Adeni in Marko follows a screenplay style that mixes the family sentimentality in proportion and makes the mass action scenes a driving factor for the progress. The director is able to make it a success better than the previous films.
Unni Mukundan is the backbone of the film. Unni Mukundan excels in the action and emotional scenes. The magnificence of the title role of Marco has been magnified by Unni Mukundan in action, body and dialogue. Among the characters in the film, two names worth mentioning are the villain Tony played by Jagadish and George played by Siddique. Jagadish’s role as Tony adds to his list of outstanding roles in recent times. In the pre-climax, including Mas, Siddique also gives a magnificent performance.
The cast of this film is also impressive, with Anson Paul, Kabir Duhansingh (Turbo fame), Abhimanyu Thilakan, Rati Tareja and many other newcomers in the cast. Chandru Selvaraj’s cinematography elevates the mood of the film to a great extent. To say that KGF music director Ravi Basoor has truly unleashed is an understatement. Ravi Basur’s role in making Marco’s fast-paced filmmaking an experience is huge.
The ‘John Wick’ model fight in particular, shot in a single shot, is a part that deserves applause. Shameer Muhammad’s editing and Sapta Records’ sound design are also worth mentioning. Audiography: Rajakrishnan MR, Art Direction: Sunil Das, Makeup: Sudhi Surendran, Costume & Design: Dhanya Balakrishnan, Production Chief Associate Director: Syamanthak Pradeep, Executive Producer: Abdul Ghadaf, Jumana Sharif, Production Controller: Deepak Parameswaran, Digital Marketing: Obscura Entertainment is the other behind the film.
Marco is an A certified film. But the film is made with the content to become a theater experience for a large section including Gen C. Giving the audience thrilling moments at regular intervals, Marco will turn out to be a huge theatrical hit.
