TIRUPATI: Nellore district police wing arrested five peddlers and seized 2.2 kgs of ganja from the possession of the accused on Wednesday.
Nellore additional SP CH Soujanya told reporters that the five accused were identified as Sheikh Irfan (21), Sheikh Nayab (22), E Vinay (23), Syed Gulashan (19) and Sheikh Shahid (20), all residents of Nellore city.
She added that the Nawabpet police acted on specific information related to ganja smuggling and arrested the accused near a burial ground near Janardhan Reddy colony earlier in the day and seized the contraband from the spot.
Additional SP added that some more arrests were likely in the case which is being further investigated by the police.
