Deputy Inspector General, (DIG) Visakha Range, Gopinath Jatti, has asked the police personnel in Alluri Sitharama Raju district to be on alert, in the light of recent encounters and exchanges of fire along the borders of Chhattisgarh and Telangana, without ruling out a possibility of Maoists infiltrating the State through these areas.

He issued strict directions to the senior police officers, along with Civil Police, APSP, and CRPF personnel to implement stringent security measures. They have been directed to gather advance intelligence to prevent any untoward incidents, enhance the police information system to strengthen internal communication and raise public awareness regarding Maoist threats and preventive measures.

Mr. Gopinath Jatti said that due to improved road networks, communication systems and enhanced police information network, Maoists have lost their stronghold in the area. Police and government officials remain fully prepared to take stringent action against any Maoist activities or attempts to re-establish a presence.

“Surveillance measures have been intensified, including deploying informants and conducting drone monitoring. Additionally, it has been emphasised that former surrendered Maoists and sympathisers must refrain from providing any form of assistance to Maoists. Strict legal action will be taken against those found aiding or abetting them,” he said.

The DIG has also added that the government has been implementing various rehabilitation programmes for the surrendered Maoists like ‘Saral’ and Aatmiya Sammelanam’
