Warangal to be on par with Hyd: CM

Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said Warangal should be developed on par with Greater Hyderabad and directed officials to prepare a ‘master plan-2050’ for the city’s comprehensive development, replacing the old master plan-2041 prepared during the previous BRS govt.
CM also held a review on Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation development with ministers and officials during a visit to Warangal. He instructed officials to take steps to develop it as a heritage city with an airport, complete land acquisition for inner and outer rings roads (IRR and ORR) and submit proposals of funds required. He also told them to prepare plans for laying an underground drainage system, drinking water pipelines, garbage dumping, prevent encroachment of nalas and works to minimise flooding.

Warangal to be on par with Hyd: CM

The CM had announced during Lok Sabha poll campaign that Warangal will be developed as the second capital city of Telangana after Greater Hyderabad. However, he did not announce various establishments that would be set up in Warangal, required for a second capital.
But the CM hastened to add that this was only a preliminary review and that he would conduct another review meeting towards a long-term plan for development of Warangal as a global city in the next 45 days. The in-charge minister for Warangal was directed to hold review meetings on the city’s development every 20-days.
The CM expressed his anger over escalation of the estimated cost of Warangal super speciality hospital from 1,100 crore to 1,726 crore without a written approval from the govt. A full forensic audit on the construction cost was ordered by the CM during his visit to the under-construction hospital building. Officials were also told to prepare proposals to provide essential amenities at the housing layout designated for those displaced by the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park.
Each plot allottee would receive 5 lakh under the Indiramma housing scheme. Officials were also told to take steps to prevent flooding.
