I’ll admit that I also had my first fall on the Aprilia during the day, but it was a low-speed slide in some grassy bits.

5500 Kms Update: A bit of off-road & bit more of touring!

Final update for the year, having done barely 4000-4500 Kms over this year, it hardly makes up for lots of things to share. That being said its been an interesting year nonetheless. Picking up from my last update on this thread, here are the highlights that have happened since –

1. Early July – Did an off-road riding initiation training with a local off-road riding school getting back to the basics. It was an intense and exciting day of trying to perform a few basic manoeuvres in off-road conditions. The 70/30 tyres still limit me and need to move to proper 50/50 tyres to go further and harder. I’ll admit that I also had my first fall on the Aprilia during the day, but it was a low-speed slide in some grassy bits (the tyres lost traction!) so there was no damage to self or the bike. After this, the bike was in hibernation for almost 2 months as I was back in India for the summer for a couple of weeks. Here are a couple of photos & videos!

2. End September – With summer almost over and the onset of autumn, temperatures were starting to drop and rain was becoming an almost everyday thing. The plan started out as a ride to meet up with a biker friend who lives in Strasbourg, but the distance being around 500 Kms one way we decided to meet up somewhere mid-way for the both of us. Finally the weather prediction said it would be a rain free day so we decided to make the run for it. But alas! It did end up raining and leaving me completely drenched to the bone as a) It started all of a sudden & b) I had not yet purchased any rain gear! But over all it was a nice ride to meetup with someone I havent met in years. We rode to a lake for some lunch & coffee, on the way back however I was greeted with Windows XP wallpaper like scenes.

3. Early November – Not much to say about this one here on this thread as I have started a travelogue for this one here. My first multi-day trip on the Tuareg and the last ride for this year.
