Team-BHPian ‘flipflop’ based out of Chennai is an audiophile who has just installed a Rs 74 lakh worth custom audio system in his Tata Harrier. Let’s take a look.
Tata Harrier Modified With Rs 74 Lakh Audio System
It is very hard to fathom the fact that someone can install a Rs 74 lakh custom audio system in a vehicle that tops out at around Rs 32 lakh OTR even in tax-hungry Karnataka. To put it into context, this audio system costs twice the price of Tata Harrier it is installed in, including road tax and insurance. Talk about the irony, huh?
But here it is, Team-BHPian flipflop’s Tata Harrier with Rs 74 lakh worth of custom audio system. This entire system was not a plug-and-play solution for a Tata Harrier and it took a lot of consideration, visualisation, a lot of trial and error, thoughts, re-thoughts, executions and re-executions.
Speaking of execution, this entire project was done by the Speedfreaks from Chennai. This entire project took 6 months with around 1,200+ man hours to complete. So, not for the faint-hearted, we would say. It takes a lot of dedication (mentally and financially) and the thirst to achieve perfection in the audio experience.
We say financial dedication because the Rs 74 lakh mentioned by Team-BHPian flipflop does not include installation charges, fabrication charges and tuning expenses. But the amount of soundproofing, the level of perfection in component selection, and consideration for placement of components, while keeping the car’s core functions intact, is an absolute journey.

Before the Harrier project, team-BHPian flipflop had a Kia Sonet which had a Rs 29 lakh worth of audio system. To install an audio system of this calibre, Harrier had to undergo extensive soundproofing, get clean current with a top-notch DC-DC converter, high-end gold-plated fuses, highest quality cables, DSP, amps, speakers, tweeters, subwoofers, custom fabrication for pillars and boot to install these components and a lot of patience and dedication. And deep pockets, of course!
