The turban ceremony and tribute meeting of Omprakash Chautala, 5-time Chief Minister of Haryana, will be held on December 31. This meeting will start at 11 am at Chaudhary Devi Lal Stadium in Sirsa.

Apart from this, his two books may also be published soon. One of these will be his autobiography and the other ‘My Foreign Journey’. These books are almost ready. According to the family, Chautala used to write a diary every day. His diaries written in Urdu have been translated into Hindi. Through this his autobiography will be published.
Chautala had traveled to 119 countries. These include America, China, Russia, Germany, France, Portugal, Spain, Denmark, Hungary, Poland, Greece, Austria, Nepal, Kuwait, Dubai, Scotland etc. His experiences in these will be in his second book.
Earlier yesterday (21st December) on Saturday, OP Chautala was cremated with state honors at the farm house located in Teja Kheda village of Sirsa. Chautala’s two sons, Ajay Chautala and Abhay Chautala, lit his funeral pyre.
His 4 grandsons Dushyant Chautala, Digvijay Chautala, Karna and Arjun Chautala performed the last rites. On this occasion, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, CM Naib Saini, former CM Bhupendra Hooda and former Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal paid tribute to Chautala.
OP Chautala died on Friday (December 20) in Gurugram at the age of 89 after suffering a heart attack.
4 important things related to OP Chautala’s funeral…
1. The dead body was wrapped in tricolor, green turban and spectacles were worn. The mortal remains of OP Chautala were kept at the farm house in Teja Kheda for last darshan on Saturday. During this time his mortal remains were wrapped in the tricolour. Apart from this, a green Turra turban and glasses were worn on his head. Green Turra turban is the identity of INLD and glasses are the election symbol. From 8 am to 2 pm, supporters paid their last respects.

2. Tomb decorated with 12 quintals of flowers, sandalwood for the funeral pyre. For the last rites of OP Chautala, a mausoleum was made in the farm house itself, which was decorated with 12 quintals of flowers. These included 8 quintals of marigold and 2 each of rose and chrysanthemum flowers. These flowers were brought from Kolkata. Apart from this, red sandalwood was brought for the pyre.

3. Both sons, grandsons and brothers shouldered the bier. When OP Chautala’s mortal remains were taken to the cremation ground after the last darshan, his two sons Ajay Chautala and Abhay Chautala shouldered the bier. After this, his grandsons Dushyant Chautala, Digvijay Chautala, Karn Chautala, Arjun Chautala, brother Ranjit Chautala and nephew Aditya Chautala accompanied the bier in the last journey.

4. Supporters showered flowers and raised slogans When OP Chautala’s mortal remains were taken towards the mausoleum, a huge crowd of supporters accompanied him. During this time, supporters kept showering flowers on his mortal remains along the entire 200 meter path. They raised slogans of ‘OP Chautala – long live’.

Chautala family seen united at funeral The entire Chautala family was seen united on the occasion of OP Chautala’s funeral. Former CM’s former minister brother Ranjit Chautala was also present along with OP’s sons Ajay and Abhay. He continued expressing his gratitude to the people who came to pay tribute. Politically, Abhay is the Principal General Secretary of INLD.
After OP Chautala expelled Ajay and his sons Dushyant-Digvijay from INLD, they formed JJP. At the same time, Ranjit had joined BJP during the Lok Sabha elections, but is now doing independent politics.
Apart from these, daughters-in-law of Chautala family were also seen sitting together. These included Naina Chautala and Sunaina Chautala, who contested against each other from Hisar.

5 special things related to OP Chautala
1. Former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhary was the eldest of Devi Lal’s five children. He was born on January 1, 1935. He became the Chief Minister of Haryana 5 times.

2. To avoid studying more than his father, Chautala left studies after primary education. When he went to jail in the teacher scam, he studied between 10th and 12th between 2017 and 2021.

After passing 10th class while OP Chautala was in jail, a film was made on him, in which Abhishek Bachchan played his character.
3. In 1968, OP Chautala contested his first election from Ellenabad, but lost. Later he went from the High Court to the Supreme Court and got the elections cancelled. He won from the same seat in the by-election held two years later in 1970.
4. Two scandals became famous during OP Chautala’s tenure as CM. The first was the Meham incident, in which he contested from the Meham seat, but the election was canceled after violence and booth capturing. 10 people died due to police bullets. Second Kandela incident, in which farmers demonstrated when the promise of free electricity and loan waiver was not fulfilled. During this period, 9 farmers died due to bullets.

5. During OP Chautala’s CM tenure of 1999–2000, the teacher recruitment scam took place, in which he and his elder son Ajay Chautala were imprisoned for 10 years. He remained in Tihar Jail, but later, due to his age of more than 60 and completion of half the sentence, he was released two years ago under the amnesty scheme of the Centre.
