Tirupati: A 50-year-old man was killed and another person was wounded in a mysterious firing incident reported near Madhavaram at Rayachoti in Annamayya district early on Sunday.
According to Rayachoti DSP Krishna Mohan, two scrap traders Hanumanthu and Ramana, who migrated to Annamayya district, were on their way to work on Sunday.
When they were near Maddelakunta village, some unidentified persons fired at the duo from the bushes nearby and both sustained grievous injuries. While they were immediately rushed to the govt hospital at Rayachoti and subsequently to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences at Kadapa, Hanumanthu succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Ramana is also said to be in a critical condition.
Rayachoti DSP Krishna Mohan inspected the spot. Local police registered a case and have laid a hunt for the accused who are absconding.
