Several exciting cars are set to hit Indian roads in 2025. Starting in January, as many as 4-5 new SUVs are expected from Hyundai, Mahindra, Kia, Skoda, and Maruti. Considering the tremendous growth of the SUV segment, OEMs have planned a range of new models across various price ranges. Among the three-row or 7-seater SUVs, five highly anticipated launches include the Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater, Tata Safari EV, and more. Let’s take a closer look at each of them.
Upcoming 7-Seater SUVs in 2025
Maruti & Toyota’s 7-Seater SUVs

Maruti Suzuki has planned a three-row version of the Grand Vitara SUV, slated to arrive in 2025. The model will share its platform, powertrains, design language, and features with its 5-seater sibling. However, it will be longer and more spacious. A few cosmetic updates are expected, such as newly designed alloy wheels and a full-width LED light bar on the tailgate. The interior layout and features will remain similar to the 5-seater Grand Vitara, with the seating arrangement being the key differentiator. The new Maruti 7-seater SUV will offer the same 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid and 1.5L Atkinson cycle petrol powertrains.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor will also introduce a re-badged version of the new Maruti Grand Vitara 7-seater SUV. This SUV, however, will feature a slightly different design aligned with Toyota’s signature styling. The interior and powertrain setup will be similar to Maruti Suzuki’s 7-seater SUV. It is expected to arrive in the second half or towards the end of 2025.
Tata Safari EV

Tata Motors plans to expand its electric SUV lineup with at least three new models: the Harrier EV, Safari EV, and Sierra EV (along with the ICE version). Test mules of the upcoming Tata Safari EVspotted with heavy to semi-camouflage, reveal intriguing details. This 7-seater SUV will feature a closed-off grille at the front and newly designed alloy wheels. The ‘EV’ badges will further highlight its electric nature. The Safari EV will be the third Tata EV to be based on the Acti.ev platform and is expected to deliver a range of around 500km. It might share its powertrain with the Harrier EV.
Mahindra XEV 7e

Mahindra & Mahindra has three new electric SUVs planned for 2025, including the BE 6, XEV 9e, and XEV 7e. While the Mahindra BE6 and XEV 9e are set to go on sale in January, the Mahindra XEV 7e is expected to hit showrooms in the second half of 2025. The XEV 7e, essentially the electric version of the Mahindra XUV700, is expected to share design elements, features, and powertrains with its siblings. It could come with 59kWh and 79kWh battery options and a single electric motor, offering a range of around 500km. Recently leaked images suggest that the Mahindra XEV 7e will feature an AWD system and traction modes, including a ‘Snow’ mode.
Renault Duster 7-Seater

The third-generation Renault Duster has been confirmed for launch in 2025. This time, the French automaker will offer the new Duster in two seating configurations: 5 and 7 seats. The Renault Duster 7-seater, one of the most anticipated launches of the year, will compete with models like the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus. Additionally, upcoming three-row SUVs from Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Hyundai, and Honda will also rival the Duster 7-seater. Renault’s new SUV is expected to feature two hybrid powertrain options: a 130bhp 1.2L turbo petrol with a 48V starter motor and a 1.6L 4-cylinder petrol with a 1.2kWh battery pack and two electric motors.
