Naidu hails role of Chirstian missionaries in education | Vijayawada News

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said that the Christian missionaries played a huge role in developing educational institutions from the pre-independence era. Naidu participated in Christmas celebrations organised in Vijayawada.
Extending Christmas wishes to all, Naidu called upon everyone to pray for the development and welfare of the state. Naidu announced the establishment of the Christian Missionaries Properties Development Board to protect assets. He promised to extend financial help for the development and restoration of churches.
“The honorarium to pastors introduced by the previous TDP govt is again being restored,” he said.
Eeven after six months in power, we could not find solutions to some of the legacy problems that the present govt inherited from the previous YSRCP regime, he said.
“Though I have the will to race ahead, circumstances in the govt are not supportive as every system collapsed in the previous govt,” he said, adding that he never faced such a situation in his earlier tenure as chief minister for three times.
Naidu said that it was the TDP which celebrated Christmas on behalf of the state govt in combined Andhra Pradesh. TDP always stood for religious minorities. It was the TDP which started financial assistance for the Jerusalem tour. He said that between 2014-19, the then TDP govt allocated 2 acres of land at Guntur and Rs 10 crore funds for the construction of Christian Bhavan. Though the building works started, the YSRCP govt could not complete it in five years.
