Here’s the weather forecast for the next two days:
Monday (December 23)
- Light to moderate rain or snow with thunderstorms are likely across Western Himalayan Region.
- Up to moderate showers with thunderstorms and some heavy rains are forecast across Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
- Dense fog is projected in isolated pockets of North India through Central and East India into Northeast India.
- Minimum temperatures will gradually rise by a few notches in West and Northwest India, while Central India will witness the mercury dipping.
- Air qualities will be very poor over North India, Central India and East India; poor over Northeast India, West India and South India.
Tuesday (December 24)
- Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Odisha are expected ti witness heavy rainfall.
- Light to moderate rain or snow is likely across Western Himalayan Region.
- Dense fog is likely in isolated pockets of North India through Central and East India into Northeast India.
- Minimum temperatures will gradually rise by a few notches in West and Northwest India, while Central India will witness the mercury dip a few degrees.
- Air qualities will be very poor over North India, Central India and East India; poor over Northeast India, West India and South India.
5-day nationwide outlook
A well marked low pressure area over westcentral Bay of Bengal will move west-southwestwards to reach Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts around Tuesday. Under its influence, heavy rains will lash across Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on Tuesday and continue in eastern portions of South India till Thursday.
Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation will also affect the Western Himalayan Region through Tuesday. And a fresh Western Disturbance and wind convergence between southwesterly winds brought by the Western Disturbance and moist easterly winds from Bay of Bengal delivered by an anti-cyclone over East India will produce rain or snow with thunderstorms across northwest India from Thursday to Friday.
Dense fog will continue across North India through Central and East India into Northeast India for several days.
As for mercury levels, daytime temperatures will be below to well below normal across North India and adjoining areas during this projection period. East India coasts will also experience cooler-than-normal highs for a few days. Nighttime temperatures will be above to well above normal over most of India during this period.
