Why Mahesh Babu & Prabhas Rejected Shankar?

South cinema’s visionary director Shankar has created wonders over the years, shaping the path for pan-India films. He started the trend with films like Gentleman, Indian, Oke Okkadu, Aparichitudu, and Robo, which brought him national fame.

However, in recent years, it appears that the hype surrounding his films has dwindled. Since I, his graph seems to have plateaued, with 2.0 (Robo 2.0) receiving an average response, and Indian 2 turning out to be a massive disaster.

Currently, Shankar is focusing on Ram Charan’s pan-India film Game Changer. Through this film, Shankar aims to return to his former glory.

Working with a star like Charan in a big-budget film is seen as a redemption chance for the director.

As part of the promotional efforts for Game Changer, Shankar shared interesting insights about some of the projects he had aspired to work on in the past.

Shankar revealed that he had always wished to collaborate with top stars like Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, and Prabhas, but for various reasons, those projects never materialized.

While he didn’t explain why his project with Chiranjeevi didn’t happen, there was speculation in the past about a possible remake of 3 Idiots with Mahesh Babu which was eventually done by Vijay.

Shankar also mentioned Prabhas in this context, but once again, he didn’t clarify why a project with him never materialized. This has raised questions about whether Mahesh Babu and Prabhas rejected Shankar’s scripts?

Shankar’s films were once seen as surefire blockbusters, but today, every star actor is very particular about scripts that fit their image. This could be one of the reasons why some of these collaborations didn’t work out.

In contrast, Ram Charan immediately agreed to work with Shankar on Game Changer.

As the Tamil market doesn’t have budgets or recovery like Telugu, Shankar has to work with Telugu heroes like Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, or Prabhas if he wants to continue as one of the top directors in Indian cinema.

For that to happen, Game Changer turning out to be a blockbuster is a must for Shankar. All eyes are on the director to see if he can reignite the magic of his past successes.
