Vijayawada: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) filed an FIR against N Sanjay, a former director general of Andhra Pradesh state disaster response and fire services, and additional director general (ADG) of Crime Investigation Department (CID), for alleged misappropriation of govt funds amounting to approximately 1.76 crore.
The FIR, registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), highlights serious irregularities in the tender process and fund allocations during his tenure.
The case revolves around two key instances of the alleged corruption. The first case involves the AGNI-NOC project, a portal and app development initiative. Sanjay is accused of manipulating the tender process in favour of a company named Sauthrika Technologies & Infra Pvt. Ltd., Vijayawada. Within a week of signing the contract on Feb 15, 2023, a payment of 59.93 lakh was disbursed despite minimal progress in the project. Also, 10 laptops were purchased at inflated rates from the same firm without following due procurement procedures.
The second instance pertains to a fraudulent contract awarded to a company named Kritvyap Technologies Private Limited, Hyderabad. This non-existent firm was allegedly paid 1.19 crore for conducting SC/ST awareness workshops under the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.
Investigations revealed that these workshops were, in fact, conducted by the CID regional offices, raising questions about the legitimacy of the payment.
