New Maruti e Vitara Electric SUV
The Maruti e Vitara is a 5-seater electric midsize SUV based on the eVX concept. Codenamed YY8, this electric SUV will be built on an all-new skateboard platform co-developed by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota. Toyota’s upcoming Urban Cruiser EV will also share the same architecture. The e Vitara’s prices will be announced in March and it will be available through Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa dealerships. It is estimated to be priced between Rs 22 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
Upon launch, the e Vitara will be available with two battery pack options – 49kWh and 61kWh – paired with a standard single-motor setup. Both batteries use LFP (lithium-iron phosphate) BYD Blade cells. While the smaller battery delivers a claimed output of 144bhp, the larger battery generates 174bhp. Both setups offer a torque of 189Nm. Additionally, the 61kWh battery pack will be available with a dual-motor AllGrip-e AWD system.

The carmaker has yet to reveal the exact range figures. However, the Maruti e Vitara equipped with the larger 61kWh battery and e-AllGrip AWD setup is estimated to deliver a range of over 500km on global test cycles. This variant delivers a peak power of 184bhp and 300Nm of torque.
The design and interior of the new Maruti electric SUV are entirely different from existing Maruti models. Some of its key highlights include a floating dual-screen setup, a twin-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, part fabric and part leatherette upholstery, a wireless phone charger, single-zone automatic climate control, heated mirrors, multiple airbags, adjustable headrests, and three-point seatbelts for all passengers. Additionally, it could be the first Maruti Suzuki car in India to feature an ADAS suite.
