I was ready to compromise, if the guy gave me an assurance of payment for repairs.

Never thought I would be posting on this thread again, but guess that is what life is. So here’s the story:
I was on the ORR exit near the Gachibowli circle. My car’s speed was approximately 60-70kph. I was slowing down gradually and I started to apply brakes. And then wham. I hit a car in front of me. After a second I realised I got tailgated. I stopped at the side to check what happened. The car in front of me was a Swift. And, I realised one of my old schoolmate was in that Swift, after he got down. He, his dad and mom were there in the car and his dad was driving. Behind me I saw a Kia Seltos stop, realised that was the car that banged into mine. The driver of the Seltos said his slides got stuck in brakes, his feet were paining and all such nonsense. The talks started. My friend’s dad and the guy started talking, while I quickly opened boodmo to see what parts and I figured out I would need atleast 15k for the repairs. I was ready to compromise, if the guy gave me an assurance of payment for repairs. He said he would call back in 2-3 hours. I asked for assurance, he said he gave his aadhar and mobile number, and couldn’t give anything more than that. I was somewhat convinced and was ready to let go. I was horribly wrong. Read on.
My friend’s dad was not ready to compromise, and he called the cops. Cops being cops behaved rudely and were of no help to us. We decided to go to the Gachibowli police station. We went there, and started to talk infront of cops. The cops at the police station were somewhat helpful. They understood that the mistake was that of the Kia Seltos guy. The Seltos guy was first ok to pay for damages, but after he came to the police station, he was like since now we are at PS things will be different, I have my contacts, I will only pay 2-3k etc etc. We wrote a complaint by that time but didn’t submit it yet.
I asked my dad to come to the PS and he came in the meantime. My dad and me spoke to the Seltos guy again. We came to an agreement of 25k compensation i.e, 15k for my car and 10k for the swift. The guy told his nonsense like he sacrificed his gold recently for his father’s panic attacks etc etc. He finally agreed for 25k, and said he would like to take a call. He went out of the PS, and that was the end. I mean, before this he went out 2-3 times for calls but came back. This time he just fled. I called him multiple times. The first 2-3 calls I received this number is switched off message. 5 minutes later I got a message that the person is available to contact. Now when I call him I get this message saying the number does not exist. That was it. I lost it. I filed a compliant. The first ever police complaint of my life.
Moral: My judgement skills have always been poor and this is a further testament to that. I trust people easily, and guess I should somehow change from now.
The guy was just not accepting that he was at speed when he hit my car. He first fled the scene after we told him we are going to the police station. He fled with his car. He arrived 30 minutes later, saying his car’s radiator was leaking and he was getting it towed. The car has a temporary registration, but I am 100% sure it is not a new car. When I opened the door, I saw a 95xx or 95xxx odo reading. The guy’s Aadhar had a 1999 DoB year, but when the cops asked him since how many years he was driving, he said from 12 years.
This incident truly broke my heart. 2024 was not really a nice year to me and this is the icing on the cake. My Beat has suffered a lot. For now, I see the following damages: rear left tail lamp broken, rear bumper broken, boot door dented, front bumper broken, bonnet damaged, radiator/fan assembly bent. Heck the bonnet does not close now.
I have to see how much it will cost to get my Beat back into shape. I will also seriously consider a dashcam. I was under the impression that a dashcam was not really necessary for the minor dings that happen in city.
Attaching photos of the same. The Kia Seltos driver is the guy in a grey shirt with glasses. Feel he is a scamster at this point.
Typed his temporary registration in TS echallan portal and saw the same plate on a black Harrier. No wonder why he didnt bring his car to the PS and fled the scene. Such horrible guys getting driving license and being allowed to drive is a shame honestly.
