Hyderabad: A financial relief of Rs.2 crore was announced to the family of the nine-year-old Sritej, who is undergoing treatment at KIMS hospital here on Wednesday.
This was announced by the film producer Allu Arvind, who is father of popular film actor Allu Arjun after calling on Sritej at the hospital. Of the Rs.2 crore financial assistance, Allu Arjun gave Rs.1 crore while the Pushpa-2 film makers and director Sukumar gave Rs.50 lakh each.
Stating that the boy was recovering and the ventilator support was also removed, Arvind said a cheque of Rs.2 crore was given to Telangana Film Development Corporation Chairman Dil Raju. Sritej suffered injuries and became unconscious after the stampede that took place at Sandhya theatre on December 4 during the screening of premier show of Puspha-2 movie.
The boy’s mother Revathi died on the spot in the stampede. After the incident, the police registered a case and arrested All Arjun apart from the theatre owner, senior manager, and manager. The Hyderabad police grilled Allu Arjun for four hours on Wednesday in connection with the case.
Allu Arjun was released from Chanchalguda prison after getting interim bail.
