Measures would be taken to begin the construction of Indiramma Houses by Sankranti. Verification of the 80,000 applications for the houses would be completed by the first week of January. Beneficiaries would be selected thereafter. Nearly 32 lakh applications were verified till Monday (December 23, 2024), said Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.

He held a review meeting on the houses, double bed room houses, at Telangana Housing Corporation’s office in Hyderabad on Tuesday (December 24, 2024).

A separate wing to attend to grievances pertaining to the houses would be established in a week, he said. A toll free number and a website will be set up. Officials would get back to the complainants with a response to the grievances.

Guidelines to be announced

Guidelines for construction of the houses would be announced. A project director of executive engineer cadre was appointed for each district to monitor construction of the houses.

He said that 20 lakhs houses would be constructed in four years, with 4.5 lakhs every year. The first priority would be given to people who own land, regardless of whether they hold a ration card. Indiramma Committees formed at village level would select the beneficiaries, he said.

The Revenue Minister added that the construction would resume at houses left unfinished by the previous government.
