Amid the ongoing investigation into the Pushpa 2 stampede, the Hyderabad police on Wednesday (December 24, 2024) issued a stern warning against what they called ‘individuals spreading false information and misleading videos related to the incident at Sandhya Theatre’.
A 35-year-old woman was killed and her eight-year-old son is in intensive care unit of a private hospital after the stampede during the benefit show of Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre on December 4. Three weeks after the incident, the accused, including the actor and theatre management, are being questioned while the child is still battling for life at the hospital.
In a press release, the police emphasised that a video detailing the facts uncovered during the investigation was already released for the public. “However, it has come to the department’s attention that certain individuals are deliberately posting manipulated videos on social media to create a false narrative that the stampede occurred before the arrival of actor Allu Arjun,” the police said adding that strict legal action will be taken against those found to be spreading such deliberate misinformation.
This comes a day after videos showing bouncers/guards at the theatre pushing public away with sticks made rounds on social media groups. The police department stressed that they are investigating the case with ‘great commitment’ and will not tolerate any attempts to defame their efforts through false propaganda and speculation.
The department urged citizens to refrain from making their own assumptions and instead, provide evidence or additional information they may have to the police directly.
