Hyderabad: The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Telangana chapter, has urged the State government to prevent serious injustice happening to NEET PG aspirants of the State due to the delay in conducting counselling for admissions into PG medical seats this year.
“Due to the delay in counselling, there is time loss, monetary loss and students from Telangana are forced to take seats in All India Quota (AIQ) by compromising their branch. Telangana students are the ones at loss as they are not able to take informed decisions. There is distress among students due to uncertainty over their future even after studying so hard for years and securing high ranks,” the IMA’s Telangana chapter wrote to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
There may not be desired sliding in between the State rounds, because of the delay in counselling, compromising the branch with which students have to stay lifelong. Students from Telangana will be forced to leave their home State, it stated.
At the all-India level, already two rounds of counselling has been completed, there won’t be any sliding like previous year in the State counselling of Telangana if the counselling happens after December 26. “We are hoping that our State conducts round one of counselling before the third round of AIQ. At least, this may give some benefit to the students of Telangana,” the IMA said.
“We request the KNRUHS and Government of Telangana to release the State merit list, seat matrix and prospectus as soon as possible, and conduct the first round of counselling as the period of resignation for AIQ round two is till December 26 and Telangana students, who got seats in AIQ round two, have a small window to resign,” it stated in the letter to the Chief Minister.
“Students, who were allotted seats in AIQ round two and joined, are in serious dilemma whether to resign that seat or not without having any clarity about the position they stand in Telangana because no merit list has been released here and not a single round of counselling has been conducted here,” the IMA chapter said.
“We request you to give eligibility to all the NEET PG aspirants of Telangana for State round one without any conditions. If possible, provide a resignation period to resign AIQ round two seat after the State round one results are announced,” the IMA said.
