Hyderabad: Of the six people arrested for allegedly trespassing into actor Allu Arjun’s residence on Dec 22, two are PhD students while two others are pursuing their post-graduation from Osmania University (OU), police said.
The Jubilee Hills police had arrested six people — Reddy Srinivas, B Nagesh, B Nagaraju, P Prakash, C Moghalaiah, and B Prem Kumar Goud — based on the complaint by the Allu family’s business head, Kantha Rao. The accused had claimed to be associated with the OU Joint Action Committee (OU-JAC)
All of them were granted bail the next day.
In the remand report, police stated that Reddy Srinivas and Prakash are pursuing PhD, whereas Nagesh and Prem Kumar are MA students. Srinivas and Prakash are also OU-JAC office bearers and hold the chairman and convener’s post respectively.
Prem Kumar is the state secretary of NSUI. “Srinivas is facing 10 cases in different parts of the state, while Nagesh had five cases registered against him,” said a cop.
On Sunday, the six accused reached the Jubilee Hills residence of Allu Arjun and staged a protest demanding justice for Revathi, the 39-year-old woman who died due to suffocation amid the crowd rush at Sandhya Theatre.
Officials claimed that they verified the CCTV footage and recorded it as evidence.
Meanwhile, even as photos of some of the accused were widely circulated on social media linking them to political parties and leaders, the police refused to confirm any such allegation.
