Vijayawada: Cherukumalli Srinivasa Rao has been appointed as the director of the Indian Agricultural Research Organization (IARA). Currently the director of the National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Rao brings decades of experience and expertise to his new role. Notably, he is the first Telugu person to hold the prestigious position at IARA.
Born on Oct 4, 1965, in Anigandlapadu village of Krishna district, Srinivasa Rao began his education at the zilla parishad school in his home town, where he studied from 1975 to 1980.
He earned a BSc in agriculture from Bapatla Agricultural College, followed by an MSc and PhD from the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in Delhi. TNN
