CM Revanth Reddy urges Tollywood to promote women's safety and social responsibility; outlined his vision for Hyderabad as a global film hub

Recently during a meeting between the key figures of the Telugu film industry Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy addressed pressing issues following the tragic stampede incident during the premiere of ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’. The meeting, which included prominent producers and actors, aimed to foster better relations between the government and Tollywood while stressing the critical importance of women’s safety and the need for the film fraternity to take an active role in promoting social responsibility.
During the discussions, CM Reddy warned that celebrities must take responsibility for controlling their fans, particularly regarding crowd management at public events. He said that private security personnel, such as bouncers employed by high-profile actors, must adhere to safety protocols to prevent incidents like the one that occurred at Sandhya Theatre, where a 39 year old woman named Revathi lost her life and her son was critically injured.
The chief minister also called on the film industry to actively participate in campaigns promoting women’s safety and anti-drug initiatives. He urged celebrities to use their influence to raise awareness about these critical issues, emphasizing that they should contribute positively to society. Reddy expressed his desire for the film industry to collaborate with the government in fostering a safer environment for all citizens.
The meeting came in light of recent tensions between the film industry and the government, particularly following Allu Arjun‘s arrest related to the stampede. CM Reddy reaffirmed that there would be no compromise on law and order, stating that benefit shows for films would no longer be permitted in Telangana.

Additionally, CM Reddy outlined his vision for Hyderabad as a global film hub, aiming to attract both Bollywood and Hollywood productions. He encouraged industry leaders to work together to enhance the city’s appeal as a filming destination. Producer Dil Raju who is the chairman of Telangana Film Development Corporation said on December 18, “Shootings for Hindi films and other language films are already taking place here, but the vision of chief minister A Revanth Reddy is to make Hyderabad a hub where Indian cinema looks towards Hyderabad as the one-stop destination.”
