With Kia Syros, the company will be offering a second sub 4m SUV after Sonet with significantly more features and tech
Kia Syros has been unveiled in India and will be launched soon as the company’s 2nd sub 4m SUV after Sonet. It is positioned above Sonet sub 4m SUV and below Seltos compact SUV. With features in excess, Kia Syros is aimed to appeal to a younger audience. But how does it appeal to a little kid? Kia has shown just that in a new advert. Let’s take a look.
New Kia Syros TVC
Making adverts of a product around a kid or voicing an advert with a kid has been a roaring trend in today’s marketing world. This is an effective strategy and more and more brands are experimenting with it. These adverts are designed for little kids to relate themselves with the kid in the adverts and lend new perspectives, interests and aspirations. Thus influencing the parents’ decisions.
New Kia Syros TVC features a little girl wearing a Blue dress and White sneakers. This Blue is very similar to Kia Syros’ launch colour, Frost Blue. The video is brilliantly executed to show it as a large sized vehicle when compared to the little girl, even though it is a sub 4m SUV. High-set bonnet, large 17-inch wheels, boxy design and roof rails add to the sense of size.
The advert shows that the girl is smitten by Kia Syros’ design and appearance. For majority of buyers, Syros’s new design language might come off as polarizing. The digital Tiger Nose grill, squarish wheel arch cladding with round arches, vertically stacked headlights and tail lights, flush door handles and squared-off rear section are notable elements.
Enticing Interiors!
The advert continues and we can see the girl is just wowed by Kia Syros’ interiors. This is much likely to be the case as Syros has nice interiors that will appeal to majority of buyers. We can see a choice of good materials, demonstrated by ASMR style footage. Syros gets a new 2-spoke steering wheel with off-centre Kia logo. There’s radar-based Level-2 ADAS.
There’s a free-standing 30-inch Trinity display, which is a union of three displays – a 12.3-inch touchscreen for infotainment, a 5-inch touchscreen in the middle for climate control functions and a 12.3-inch non-touch panel for instrumentation. Yes, these are 12.3-inch screens that are larger than Seltos’. There’s wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with Harman Kardon audio system.
Driver seat is powered, front seats get ventilation for both thighs and backrest. Rear seats get ventilation function too, but only for thighs, which we wish was not the case. Rear seats are split 60:40 and they can slide and recline to liberate more space in the boot. An air purifier, rear window shades, panoramic sunroof and rear AC vents are other notable features on the inside.
Powerful Powertrains!
Under the bonnetKia Syros comes equipped with either a 1.0L 3-cylinder Turbo Petrol engine or a 1.5L 4-cylinder Turbo Diesel engine. Syros is Kia’s 1st vehicle to get Turbo Petrol Manual gearbox combination. Where automatics are concerned, Petrol gets 7-speed DCT and Diesel gets a 6-speed torque converter.
