India Today, Veer Bal Divas is being celebrated in a grand manner.
Veer Bal Divas is celebrated on December 26 every year to commemorate the sacrifices and bravery of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, the sons of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of Sikhs.
Sahibzada Zorawar Singh was only 9 years old and Sahibzada Fateh Singh was only 6 years old when these Sahibzada Bhaleys sacrificed their lives to save religion and humanity.
In 2022, on January 9, on the occasion of Guru Gobind Singh Prakash Parvam, Prime Minister Modi announced that Veer Bal Divas would be held across the country to commemorate the sacrifice of these young men.
Mughal rule
Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, had four sons namely Ajit Singh, Jujar Singh, Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh. In 1699, Gobind Singh founded the Khalsa Panth.
In 1705, when Punjab was under Mughal rule, the Mughals tried to capture Guru Gobind Singh.
However, Guru Gobind Singh stayed in a secret place along with his wife Mata Gujri and their sons in the fields of Pragati.
However, Gangu, a cook among them, informed the Nawab of Sirhind Wazir Khan about them.
At that time, Guru Gobind Singh’s sons Baba Ajit Singh and Babajujar Singh were martyred in the war against the Mughals.
Martyrdom of children
Nawab Wazir Khan harassed Guru Gobind Singh’s wife Gujri and their sons Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh.
They forced them to convert. Then Wazir Khan buried these girls in the wall. Knowing this, Gujri’s mother sacrificed her life.
The Government of India has declared 26th December 2022 as Veer Bal Divas to recognize the sacrifice of these young men.
