Visakhapatnam police issue strict guidelines for New Year’s eve events

As the city gears up for the New Year’s eve, the Visakhapatnam city police officials have issued a list of guidelines and restrictions to be followed by the managements of hotels, pubs and private agencies in the city, organising the events.

As a number of hotels are planning to conduct DJ, musical nights and other New Year’s eve events, the managements were asked to take prior permission from the police before organising such events till 1 a.m (January 1). CCTV cameras should be arranged at all the entry/exit as well as parking as per the A.P. Public Safety Enforcement Act, 2013 at the venues. Security must be arranged by the managements to monitor entry/exit points and parking at the venues. Adequate parking space should also be provided to the visitors and they must ensure the traffic on the public areas is not disturbed, the police directed the managements.

The police have also appealed the managements to make sure they do not issue passes to more than the permissible capacity of the function hall or the resort, to avoid any untoward incidents or law and order issues. The permissible limits for the sound is less than 45 decibels. The police also said that the managements should not provide liquor beyond the timings permitted by the Prohibition & Excise Department. Usage of firecrackers is strictly not allowed by the police.

The police have also said that there will be strict watch over the use of narcotics. Strict action will be initiated against those involved in such anti-social activities. It is also the responsibility of the managements to ensure their customers who consume alcohol reach their home safely, by arranging cab services. The managements should also arrange chart displaying the consequences of involving in drunken driving.

Already, the police have informed that the Beach Road stretch between NTR Statue and The Park Hotel Junction, will be closed from December 31st night to early morning of January 1. Vehicles will not be allowed on Telugu Thalli flyover. The middle lane of the BRTS Roads in the city will also be closed to prevent road accidents during the same timings.
