I used ADAS for a month, and after that, I turned off everything except the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning & Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist.

One year with my Seltos GTX Diesel AT (Pewter Olive). Clocked 24,000km

24,000 km in 1 year with my Seltos GTX diesel AT; Upgrades so far!

Previous car: S Cross 1.3 Stage 1 remap from Wolf Moto.

Other Cars Considered:

1. Tata Safari (Adventure Persona): One of our good friends bought this, and we could see the issues he was facing, and the car wasn’t ageing well.

2. Kia Carens: I was more inclined towards this car purely because of its practicality and space. For home ministry, looks were the priority, and she didn’t like the looks of the carens. We didn’t need a 6- or 7-seater car, but the extra space is always better for a longer road trip.

3. Kia Seltos: My wife was sold on the looks of this car the moment it was launched. However, when I saw the price tag, I felt the asking price was more by 2 to 2.5 lacs. The initial GTX variant would have been worth 22 lacs on the road.

Ultimately, I had to proceed with the Diesel AT GTX.

After spending one year with the car, I don’t regret buying it. It is very comfortable to drive and is loaded with features compared to S Cross. Most of our drives are on the highway.

Coming from a 1.3 DDIS, the power on tap is enough for a sedate driver like me and my wife. I often use sports mode on the highway, and driving in sports mode is fun.

I drive the car primarily in normal mode. Even after the ECU update, Eco mode is quite dull, and honestly, I always get better mileage in Normal mode, even in city traffic.

Suspension: The suspension is firmer. This is the first time I’ve driven a car with 18-inch wheels, so it took me a while to understand that the car feels much better when the tyre pressure is maintained at 31psi (cold tyre). When the tyre pressure is maintained at 31psi, you drive a different car altogether.

Tyres: S cross was shod with JK tyres as well, and the moment I knew Seltos came with JK, my first thought was to change them the first thing I got the car out of the showroom. However, if I didn’t drive the car on the JK for a few months, I wouldn’t be able to appreciate how much better the car feels to drive when I change tyres. I changed the tyres at 20,000km to Bridgestone Turanza 6i, and as expected, the car felt much better to drive and they are on par with Michellins and Continentals.

ADAS: I have used them for a month, and after that, I have turned off everything except for the Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning & Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist. For me, ADAS is not made for our traffic conditions, and I don’t see myself using it in the future. I know a lot of members are using it and have become habituated. Kudos to them

Consider taking a Coffee Break. This is the most annoying thing about the car. I hope there is a way to eliminate this alert, like a jailbreak or even lowering the volume to a minimum.

Mileage: According to Drivvo app, the average mileage is 16.1 km/L, and MID shows 19 km/L.

Upgrades (or) accessories so far:

1. Full floor mat. I have a four-year-old, and I can’t stress enough how important this accessory has been

2. 3d floor mat

3. sun shades for the front doors and the boot

4. Frido Ultimate Car Neck Rest Pillow

5. Spartan Shield 9H screen guard

6. Viofo A229 with hardwiring kit.

7. Armrest cushion with side pockets. The armrest was a little lower than I liked, but by adding this accessory, I can comfortably rest my hand on it, and it can also be slid.

8. PPF (Xeno guard). PPF gives so much peace of mind. All I have to do is wipe with Jopasu before the morning drive, and the car looks clean

9. Door damping (STP)

10. Carlinkit 5.0 for wireless Android auto and car play

11. Bridgestone Turanza 6i. I posted a review regarding this in my previous posts.

Insurance renewal: I spoke with the insurance company linked to the local KIA dealer and went ahead with ICICI Lombard. It costed me ₹29,000

On the eve of Dussehra, we bought an Ignis Alpha MT (Pearl Arctic White) as our city-beater car.
