CM, leaders pay glowing tributes

Hyderabad: Cutting across party lines, several leaders, chief minister A Revanth Reddy, ministers, MPs and legislators paid glowing tributes while recalling their association with former prime minister Manmohan Singh and his support for Telangana state.
CM A Revanth Reddy recalled Singh as one of the greatest economists, leaders, reformers, and above all, a humanitarian. Irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said: “India has lost one of her greatest sons, a loss that cannot be filled. History will remember Manmohan Singh in golden letters for his services.”
AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi said the story of the departed leader, a Partition refugee, is a remarkable one as he went on to become RBI governor, Union finance minister and prime minister. “I will always remember him as the only prime minister who made sincere efforts to uplift India’s marginalised,” he said.
CPI national secretary Syed Azeez Pasha said: “I remember an appointment at PM’s residence when Sitaram Yechury, MP Lal Jan Basha, Zahed Ali Khan, and myself were there, and Singh himself brought one more chair physically. Another incident which pleasantly puzzled me is that his elder brother came to the PM’s residence in an auto. Let us try to follow his simplicity.”
CPI state secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao termed the demise of Singh as a great loss to not only India but to the entire world.
